Adaptive Training Internship

DASA offers an internship through our Adaptive Training one-on-one personal training program.

In this internship, you will have the opportunity to work hands-on with DASA athletes and clients with complex medical issues in post-rehabilitation and eventually design your own Exercise Prescription and execute it.

This internship is for individuals who have education in Exercise Science and have taken Exercise prescription class and/or are going the OT/PT route and have a background in Exercise Science.

Programming Internship

DASA also offers an internship to aid our staff in running all programs and events.

In this internship, you will have the chance to see a day in the life of a nonprofit, be trained to assist the staff, and eventually take over parts of certain programs and events. You will gain experience in sport programming, event planning, business administration, customer satisfaction, and working hands-on with our athletes in various programs.

This internship is for individuals in the fields of Sports Management, Psychology, Social Work, Non-Profit Management, Marketing, etc.

Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist Internship

DASA is now providing internships to recreation therapy students who are pursuing their Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist license under a CTRS supervisor.

In this internship, DASA provides recreation therapy students hands-on training to be successful in an adaptive sports program setting.

Therapeutic Recreation Interns assist in all aspects of programs and administration. They are supervised by a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist while performing tasks as outlined by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification. Based on experience, the intern may also serve in a leadership role, as an instructor or facilitator. Interns also provide information on current trends in therapeutic recreation services, through projects, presentations, and staff in-services.

As an intern, you will be able to write an individualized plan of care for athletes based on assessed strengths and needs. This plan would include goals, objectives, and intervention strategies aimed at fostering desirable and necessary outcomes.

“Our interns add new energy and excitement to our athletes’ routines and help DASA in countless ways as we all work togther to positively impact lives.” – DASA Staff
